About this tour

Nar Phu village trekking in Nepal is an incredible journey through a remote and isolated valley in the Annapurna region. This trek offers spectacular views of snow-capped mountains and lush green valleys, along with a glimpse into a traditional Nepali lifestyle.

The trek begins in Koto, a small village in the Annapurna region. From Koto, you will ascend to the village of Meta, where you will stay for the night. The next day, you will continue on to the village of Phu, located in the Nar Valley. Here, you will be able to explore the traditional stone and mud houses, visit with the locals, and marvel at the incredible mountain views.

From Phu, you will pass through the villages of Naura, Ngawal, and Chyakhu, before you reach the village of Nar. Here, you will be able to explore the most remote areas of the valley and see some of the most spectacular views.

The trek will then take you up to the Nar viewpoint. From this viewpoint, you will have a stunning panoramic view of the valley and the surrounding mountains. You will also be able to trek to the nearby villages of Kopra Ridge, Ngawal, and Chyakhu, where you can visit several Buddhist monasteries.

Itinerary

Arriving in Kathmandu, you'll be captivated by the stunning aerial views of mountains, hills, and farms. A representative from Adventure Series Nepal will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in and some rest, you can explore Thamel, known for its colorful market filled with unique crafts and thangka paintings. Treat yourself to a delicious meal at one of the many restaurants offering Nepali and international cuisines. Enjoy a comfortable overnight stay in Kathmandu, ready for the adventures ahead.

After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley. Begin with a visit to Swayambhunath Stupa, known as the monkey temple, offering a panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley. Next, explore the revered Hindu shrine of Pashupatinath on the banks of the Bagmati River. Then, proceed to Boudhanath Stupa, a famous Buddhist monument known for its peaceful ambiance. Conclude the sightseeing at Patan Durbar Square, a medieval royal square adorned with temples, courtyards, and exquisite artworks from the Malla dynasty. Following the sightseeing, your trek guide will assist you in preparing for the trek. They will provide detailed information about the trail conditions, expected weather, and necessary equipment. If needed, you can purchase or rent any required gear from the shops in Thamel. Spend the night at a hotel in Kathmandu, ready for the upcoming adventure.

Start your day with a morning drive of approximately 5 to 6 hours to reach Besisahar. From there, continue your journey in a four-wheeler along a rocky path. Although the drive may be bumpy, the stunning views of waterfalls and gorges flowing down lush green hills make it worthwhile. Pass through charming villages like Bhulbhule, Chamcha, Dharapani, Danakya, Bagarchha, and Thanchok, where you can catch glimpses of majestic mountains such as Manaslu, Annapurna II, and Lamjung. Spend the night at a guesthouse in Koto, preparing for the adventures ahead.

Begin your day early as you prepare for an exciting and adventurous journey ahead. Cross the bridge and enter the lesser-explored valley, surrounded by enchanting forests along the Phu River. This off-the-beaten-path trail is adorned with small caves and religious shelters, creating a serene atmosphere untouched by the outside world. As you progress, you'll encounter a narrow canyon and follow a trail below a captivating waterfall, gradually transitioning into a less dense forest. The final leg of the day involves a steep uphill climb, offering closer views of the snow-capped peaks, including Lamjung Himal and Annapurna II. Your destination for the day is Meta, a village situated in a spacious open plain, boasting breathtaking and unobstructed vistas.

As you leave Meta behind, you'll encounter the iconic Tibetan chortens of Nar and Phu, adding a burst of color to the surroundings. Crossing a suspension bridge, you'll reach the dry fields of Chyakhu and ascend to a small pass that offers breathtaking views of the Annapurna range. Continuing the trek, you'll pass through Kyang, where you can marvel at the impressive Pisang Peak and Annapurna II. The rocky trail takes you alongside the Phu River, offering glimpses of camps along the way. Along this path, you'll catch sight of three villages, an old Tibetan-style fortress, and the remnants of two ancient fortresses strategically perched atop the plateau in front of the village.

Immerse yourself in the rich Tibetan culture and religion as you spend the day exploring Phu village. Witness the traditional activities of grinding mustard seeds and spinning sheep wool alongside the villagers. Join the locals as they accompany their blue sheep for grazing. For a closer view of Himlung Himal, hike to the base camp through the glacial valley. Don't miss the opportunity to visit the ancient Tashi Lhakhang Monastery, a renowned heritage site. Capture the mesmerizing scenes and vibrant colors of Phu village, offering a treat for photographers. Rest and relax at a guesthouse in Phu for the night.

Descend from Phu village, following the same trail for a few hours. Traverse through a small gorge at Phu Khola, crossing streams and suspension bridges. Pass by the scenic village of Yughat adorned with Buddhist chortens and mani stones. Continue through the Lapche River Gorge, surrounded by lush flora and diverse wildlife. Arrive at Nar Phedi, where you will stay at a monastic school for the night. Immerse yourself in the monastery's peaceful atmosphere, assisting the nuns with dinner preparations and observing their evening religious rituals.

Today is a leisurely day with a shorter walk. Follow a winding path adorned with colorful Buddhist stupas and chortens. As you approach Nar, a unique village near the popular Annapurna trek trail, you'll be captivated by the stunning views of Pisang Peak and the surrounding peaks. Nar is a lively village, offering a glimpse into the daily lives of the locals. Observe women weaving wool fabric and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of the area, especially during sunset.

Prepare yourself for an exhilarating trek today as you ascend from Nar village to reach the stunning Kang La Pass. The challenging climb will reward you with breathtaking views of Gangapurna, Annapurna II, Tilicho Peak, and other majestic peaks, as well as Hunde Airport and Marsyangdi Valley. After taking in the panoramic scenery from the pass, you descend to Ngwal, surrounded by Buddhist prayer flags and charming chortens. Along the way, you'll spot meditation caves, yak pastures, and religious shelters nestled in the hills. After a two-hour descent, you'll reach Nwagal, where you can rest and rejuvenate.

As you bid farewell to Ngawal village, savor the remaining hours of your trek while making your way towards Pisang. The trail is wide and pleasant, offering a comfortable walk. As you descend, you'll notice the temperature rising and the landscape becoming greener. Just before reaching Pisang, you'll be greeted by charming lakes, perfect for capturing memorable photos. After enjoying a delicious lunch in Pisang, you'll embark on a jeep ride to Besisahar, where you will spend the night.

Enjoy a scenic drive back to Kathmandu, where you'll be treated to stunning views of forests, rivers, villages, and hills along the way. Upon reaching your hotel, you'll have free time to explore the nearby markets and pick up souvenirs. In the evening, you can unwind at a local bar with live music and savor a refreshing beer.
