The scenic trek to Ghandruk is a great introduction to the enchanting lower Annapurna region, with its rich heritage and remote mountain villages. This trip takes you through dense rhododendron forests, paddy fields, and up steep stone-slab steps. Making your way through picturesque villages of the lower Annapurna region. Enjoy stunning views of Himalayan giants Annapurna, Hiunchuli, and Machapuchare (Fishtail). The spectacular three-day Annapurna Circuit is one of the world’s premiere trekking routes. This loop through the mighty Annapurna range, between the jungle and the fabled snow peaks, will take you through thick bamboo forests, across high ridges, and down to peaceful terraced fields.
The Ghandruk Trek takes you through some of the lesser-known regions in the Annapurna circuit, but it does not disappoint. The hike is moderately difficult and with a good amount of elevation change. You will be spending most of your time taking in stunning mountain views, and are likely to encounter numerous wildlife.
To start your journey, you have to drive or fly to Pokhara, the beautiful city in western Nepal known as the City of Lakes. After spending a night there, it’s only 35 minutes to Phedi.
Then the trek begins with a trail that winds through rhododendron and orchid-laden forests, leading up to Dhampus ridge. From there it climbs toward Pothana before running downhill toward Tolka where an overnight stay is necessary. After that, a quick down and up will take you to Landruk, a Gurung village similar to Ghandruk.
Once you have crossed Modi Khola through the suspension bridge, your journey gently takes you to Ghandruk. There are several great sights to take in – from Gurung Traditional Museum and Buddhist Monasteries to the visitor center the Annapurna Conservation Area Project. Afterward, you will begin a downhill walk back towards Modi Khola at Syauli Bazaar. Furthermore, you progress through birch forests and rice terraces before ending up in Birethanti and Nayapul. After taking some time in Nayapul, get a car for a drive to Pokhara before returning by road to Kathmandu?

Upon your arrival in Kathmandu, you will be warmly welcomed by a representative from Adventure Series Nepal who will be waiting for you at the airport. They will assist you with your luggage and transfer you to your hotel in Kathmandu. You can sit back, relax, and enjoy the drive as you take in the sights and sounds of the vibrant city. Once you arrive at your hotel, you will complete the check-in process and have the rest of the day to rest and recover from your journey. Take this time to familiarize yourself with the hotel facilities and surroundings. Prepare yourself for the exciting adventures and experiences that await you in the beautiful country of Nepal.
From Kathmandu, you have the option to travel to Pokhara either by flight or by road. If you choose to fly, you can take a domestic flight from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The flight duration is approximately 20 minutes, offering you breathtaking aerial views of the Himalayan range and the scenic landscapes below. Upon landing in Pokhara, you will be able to quickly reach your destination and start exploring the city. Alternatively, you can opt for a road journey from Kathmandu to Pokhara. The drive takes around 6 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. Along the way, you'll pass through picturesque countryside, terraced fields, and traditional villages. This option allows you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Nepal and experience the gradual transition from the bustling capital city to the serene lakeside city of Pokhara.
After arriving in Pokhara, you will drive to Nayapool, the starting point of your trek. The drive takes around 1.5 to 2 hours and offers scenic views of the countryside. From Nayapool, you will begin your trek to Ghandruk, which takes about 5-6 hours. Along the trail, you'll pass through beautiful landscapes, terraced fields, and charming villages. Ghandruk is a traditional Gurung village known for its cultural heritage. Take time to explore the village, interact with the locals, and enjoy the stunning mountain views. Rest and recharge in Ghandruk before continuing your trek in the Annapurna region.
On Day 4, take time to explore the charming village of Ghandruk and engage in a cultural program. Ghandruk is renowned for its rich Gurung culture and breathtaking mountain views. Wander through the village, admiring the traditional stone houses and intricate woodwork. Interact with locals to learn about their customs. In the evening, enjoy a lively cultural program featuring traditional music, dance, and vibrant costumes. Immerse yourself in the local traditions and create lasting memories of your time in Ghandruk.
After your exploration of Ghandruk, you will begin your journey back to Pokhara. The drive from Ghandruk to Pokhara takes approximately 2-3 hours, depending on road conditions and traffic. As you descend from the mountains, you will be treated to scenic views of the surrounding landscapes and terraced fields. Enjoy the picturesque countryside as you make your way back to the lakeside city of Pokhara. Once you reach Pokhara, you can unwind, relax, and reflect on your trekking experience in the beautiful Annapurna region.

This will allow you to enjoy both the scenic bus ride and the breathtaking flight. The flight duration from Pokhara to Kathmandu is approximately 20 minutes, offering panoramic views of the Himalayas and the stunning landscapes below. It's a convenient and time-saving option to return to Kathmandu while also allowing you to relish the beauty of the aerial perspective.
